changed or altered for a couple of hundred years.

three different types of stone used to build the
main building & each of the two wings.

The oldest part of the Toll House dates back four
hundred years. A toll had to be paid to Clan
McFarlane when travellers passed the house. We are
told from a reliable source that Queen Victoria
stopped here to pay her toll during her post
coronation tour. Local history tells us Vikings used
this natural route between the two lochs to pull
their long boats from Loch Long to Loch Lomond.
