Gartocharn -Lomond and Trossachs Park (South) - (West - North - East)

Gartocharn village lies between Balloch and Drymen on the south side of Loch Lomond (although the village itself is not on the loch side). It is a popular stopping off point with good facilities for the size of village. Just behind Gatocharn there is a small conical hill (Duncryne) which many people (including photographers) climb to get beautiful views north up Loch Lomond. Although the main road runs through Gartocharn, there a lots of single track minor roads all around Gartocharn which attracts cyclists and walkers. There are miles of those B roads and a great day with lovely views awaits those who explore them.
 

Gartocharn is a good base for exploring the south part of the park for those that have their own transport. Every other part of the south park is within 30minutes, whether you are going to climb Ben Lomond (30minutes away),  visit Glengoyne distillery (15 minutes), Lomond Shores Centre (12 minutes) or even going out of the park to Dumbarton Rock (20 minutes)

There are many choices of accommodation in this area, but in particular there are a good choice of Self Catering and Bed and Breakfast. There is also an excellent restaurant, the Hungry Monk which is in the centre of Gartocharn Loch Lomond.
