Fishing Loch Arklet

Loch Arklet  is 12 miles west of Aberfoyle on the B829 road to Inversnaid and Stronachlachar. Follow the single track road from Kinlochard to a T junction.  Turn left at the T junction towards Inversnaid and you will see Arklet on the left hand side. The hire boats at £20 per day are to be found at the Inversnaid end at the far side of the dam. The loch itself is about 2.5 miles by 0.5 and it is only allowed to fly fish from boats.  There are 3 boats for hire  at the moment and it should be noted that boats with petrol engines are not allowed as this is part of the public water supply. However electric engines are available to hire for £7 per day.

T
his little loch,  Loch Arklet, has a reputation for good catches although the average weight per fish is usually under 1lb (brown Trout), however most days you could expect to catch about 6 to 12 fish per rod depending upon the local weather. Do keep a good eye out for the local wildlife as it is not unusual to see an osprey swoop down to take a fish. This is also home to feral goats, although recently there has been some controversy over the culling of the animals by a well known so called conservation agency.
